The Nominating Committee, made up of Bob Libby (Chair), Mike Crowley, Jack Poole, Christy Theisen, Robert McNamee, Debbie Scott, has completed their work and are sending to the SFPE membership the following candidates for next year’s Board of Directors and Nominating Committee.
All applications of nominees were reviewed and acted upon by the Nominating Committee following the applicable provisions of the SFPE Constitution & Bylaws and SFPE Standing Rules for the positions sought.
The ballot will be sent out electronically on November 1 (look for announcement@associationvoting.com) and voting will be open for 30 days, ending on Monday, December 1, at 5:00 PM Eastern Time.
Per the SFPE Constitution and Bylaws, each member in good standing as of November 1 (which means dues are paid in full) will be entitled to select one candidate for President-Elect, one candidate for Secretary-Treasurer, up to three Members-at-Large to serve on the Board of Directors, and up to three candidates for the Nominating Committee.
Please verify that you are a member in good standing as of November 1 and that we have a valid email address on file. Individuals who are not in good standing as of November 1 or who do not have a valid email address on file will not be eligible to vote in this election. The election results will be announced to the membership by December.
Members have the privilege and responsibility of voting for candidates of their choice. The Board of Directors has adopted rules governing this election process, which can be found in SFPE's Standing Rules. Most importantly, campaigning for any office following the announcement of candidates is strictly prohibited. Only official information about the candidates from SFPE is allowed. Campaigning and campaign materials include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Personal email or postal correspondence which asks chapters for their help or support during the election.
- Distribution of books, pamphlets, resumes, photographs, other printed materials, ribbons, buttons, or trinkets, which include the nominee's or candidate's name during the election cycle.
- Presentations or speeches that ask the chapters or individuals for their assistance or support during the election.
These rules apply not only to the candidates but also to other members or surrogates who may be acting on behalf of a candidate. During an election cycle, it is prudent that candidates and other members refrain from any correspondence, speeches, or distribution of any materials that could potentially be deemed as campaigning.
The SFPE Board of Directors is responsible for determining if a violation has occurred and, if so, determining the penalty for any candidate who violates the rules. The range of penalties can include, but is not limited to, removal from the ballot regardless of the outcome of votes cast, or being banned from all future elections for any office.
